How it works
Trend systems can combine price structure, moving averages, momentum and volatility filters to distinguish a directional market from short-term noise. A signal must meet the rules of the particular EA before an order is considered. Exit rules, position size and trading costs matter as much as the entry.
Where it fits
Most suited to markets with persistent direction. Sideways markets and repeated false breakouts can create a series of small losses. The relevant instruments, timeframes and session filters depend on the published configuration of the selected release.
What can go wrong
A trend can reverse abruptly. Stops may slip during gaps or fast markets, and an otherwise valid signal may arrive late. Trend following does not remove drawdown or guarantee that a move will continue.
A practical example
Illustration: price breaks a range and the trend filter agrees. The EA may enter in that direction, then exit when the protective stop or exit condition is reached. A failed breakout can produce a loss; this is a logic example, not a performance result.
Before you choose
